Butcher Block Cutting Boards and Counter Tops

A home recipe for a good cutting board preservative follows: Mix 10 parts mineral oil to 1 part paraffin. Carefully warm the mixture in a microwave just until the paraffin melts. DRY ROT
...must be located and removed and the property must be dried rapidly. Where the drying out may be delayed the vulnerable surfaces should be treated using an appropriate Boron preservative after removal of plaster and other affected surfaces. The level of replacement/reinforcement of timbers will depend on the type of preservative used or the type of timber. See #2.
