CertainTeed MemBrain™ Specified For New Philadelphia Waterfront Luxury Condos

CertainTeed Corporation is proud to announce that MemBrain™, The Smart Vapor Retarder, has been installed in Waterfront Square Condominiums and Spa, an expansive residential development being built near Philadelphia's Penn's Landing and Center City districts.

Sep 27, 2006

Covering 10 acres of land on the shore of the Delaware River, the 966-unit, five-tower development will feature MemBrain in each of its condominiums. Four out of the five towers will also feature CertainTeed CertaPro™ unfaced fiber glass batt insulation, using MemBrain as the interior vapor retarder. Two of the five towers are almost complete, with total project completion expected by 2009. The luxury condominiums start at $458,000 and penthouse units are selling between $3 million and $10 million.

MemBrain is a polyamide film that changes its molecular permeability under varying humidity conditions to allow wall cavities to stay dry and help reduce the risk of damaging mold and mildew growth. The innovative product is an excellent solution for in-the-wall moisture management in both commercial and residential buildings, says Howard Deck, President of CertainTeed Insulation Group.

"MemBrain is a revolutionary product because of its adaptable permeability during seasonal climatic changes, helping walls to stay dry no matter what time of year," he says. "Because of this, the combination of our fiber glass batt insulation and MemBrain creates an unparalleled defense against moisture and mildew in wall cavities. MemBrain is ideal for Waterfront Square Condominiums, and we're pleased to have a part in it."

Waterfront Square Condominiums is a luxury development, providing residents with such premium amenities as gourmet kitchens, hardwood flooring, marble-floored bathrooms, central air, oversized windows and MemBrain for in-the-wall moisture protection. Residents will also have the option of renting boat space at the development's marina, located on the Delaware River. The condominiums have been very popular so far. By Summer 2006, the development was already 70 percent sold out.
