New Haas/CNC Race Shop Features CertainTeed Roofing and Duct Insulation

CertainTeed Corporation is proud to announce that an expansive, new race shop for NASCAR's Haas CNC Racing Team, features both a CertainTeed roof and HVAC duct insulation.

Nov 10, 2006

The 145,000 square-foot race shop, which will open soon in Kannapolis, North Carolina, features a four-ply modified bitumen roof, consisting of three plies of CertainTeed Flintglas® Type IV Ply Sheet and a Flexiglas™ 960 Premium Cap Sheet. In addition, the race shop's sheet-metal HVAC ducts will be lined on the interior with approximately 20,000 square feet of CertainTeed ToughGard®R Duct Liner and insulated on the exterior by CertainTeed's SoftTouch™ Duct Wrap.

"It's an honor to have our company's products so prominently featured by the Haas CNC team in the construction of the new race shop," says Peter Dachowski, President and CEO of CertainTeed. "The Haas brand has long been known for quality performance in its industry, and we look forward to providing Haas CNC with the quality performance they demand through CertainTeed's top-notch roofing and duct insulation products."

The Haas CNC race shop's roof was completed in June, and the ductwork and its insulation were installed by early July. Contractors working with the CertainTeed product gave good reviews, saying that each provided a smooth installation.

"We enjoyed working with the CertainTeed modified roof system," says Steve Oglesby, Vice President of Oglesby Contracting, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and roofing contractor on the project. "It's a really good product line to work with, and we didn't have any problems with the installation."

Mark Bond, Vice President of A-1 Quality Insulation, of Charlotte, North Carolina, the HVAC insulation contractor for the race shop, had similar reviews of the ToughGard R Duct Liner and SoftTouch Duct Wrap.

"They're very good products, and our crew likes working with them," Bond says. "Some of the duct insulation from other companies tends to flake off and get dusty when you install it. We haven't had that problem with the CertainTeed duct insulation."

The Kannapolis race shop, which will go into full operation by November 20, 2006, will be the second for Haas CNC Racing, which is headquartered in Harrisburg, North Carolina. Haas CNC Racing, a subsidiary of Haas Automation, owns the Number 66 Best Buy Chevrolet for the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Season, whose sponsors include CertainTeed and its sister companies Norton Abrasives and BPB.
